baby parrot come again ....

I am terribly late in introducing this lovely guest to you . This was about a week back from Diwali , i heard some unusual flutter outside my window . A pleasant chirp of a herd of parrots is nothing new but they keep themselves perched on the higher branches of the trees mostly . I have failed miserably whenever i tried to shoot them

I feel so lucky to be so close to nature , green surroundings , a jungle-garden and loads of birds . I have seen so many colors , shapes and sizes of birds here and many of them choose to make their nests in my trees . But i am very bad at taking pictures ... i am so engrossed in the experience of watching them that i forget to shoot them most of the times . On the other times when i rush inside to fetch the camera , i get so conscious of not disturbing them and i fail ...... to take a decent picture.

This is how i shot this baby ....

up and close .........

He just hopped here n there a few times and flew away ... i have been waiting for him to come down from the higher branches since then .... hard luck .... but he is so cute .  This picture i shot in the last week of October .

A child can be so easily recognized by his/her body language , checking out everything and taking short uncertain flights ... this baby is flying a bit more confidently now but is not giving me any opportunity to shoot him .... waiting till then.

  1. Adorable!!! You will find opportunities to take many more pictures - I feel if the bird came there once, it will come again...

  3. This guy is coming to my back garden daily and i can see him perched on the higher branches of the Jamun tree . He is a bit more adult like and knows that coming to the potted plants will not be safe for him ... unless i am able to befriend him...:)

May be a hello from Amrita makes him a bit friendly ...:)

  6. lovely sangeeta, both of us are budding bird watchers, and sundar spotted a new long white bird with yellow breast at the KBR park hyd. we are yet to find its name. Is that baby indian parakeet or something else.Hyd boasts of a few good parks and we enjoy sighting a few rare birds. ur garden is inviting good friends from everywhere, enjoy

  7. I also thought it is a plum headed parakeet , but the white chest and the yellow periphery of the eye makes me confused ... let's see if somebody recognizes this species .

I am watching this family daily around 10-11 in the morning , perched on my jamun tree...this baby seems to be warned of not coming down :)

  9. Don't worry about the pictures. Its the fact that you enjoyed his presence and made sure that he is comfortable that matters.

  15. sangita, this is coppersmith barbet, ( pl refer to my photo in the picassa album, also for a closer look, pl refer google), hurray! i ve found the bird, u are so lucky to have had a close look. It flies fast and must be searching for a small hole which she can develop into a nest in the dry wood. he sounds like a hammer hitting a copper vessel, and so the name.

  16. I remember seeing the same bird in Greater Kailash Delhi - I thought it was called The Large green Barbet... take a look here, <a href ="http://indianhomemaker.wordpress.com/2010/03/22/where-would-ghosts-go-if-we-cut-all-trees/>http://indianhomemaker.wordpress.com/2010/03/22/where-would-ghosts-go-if-we-cut-all-trees/</a>

  17. Yes it is a Barbette for sure , i was so confused by it's looks as it didn't show any parrot body language :)

Copper smith barbette will right i think...i noticed him pecking into the tree trunk too n was thinking it is a baby and doesn't know what to do :)

Thanks Nirupama and IHM....we learn so much from each other.
